Technical Officer / Draughtsman – Kingston

The Tourism Product Development Company Ltd. (TPDCo.) is seeking to identify a motivated, suitably qualified, and results-oriented professional to fill the following position:

Technical Officer / Draughtsman – Kingston

Under the supervision of the Civil Engineer/Project Manager the Technical Officer/Draughtsman provide architectural assistance and draughting related services to facilitate the development of tourism projects through the provision of project preparation documents and to assist in the facilitation of sustainable tourism development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 Assists in planning the graphics presentation of designs based on established drafting procedures
 Produces design drawings, construction drawings and as built drawings for projects
 Develops sketches into working drawings and details from concept stage through construction documents
 Prepares drawings, construction layouts, negatives and blue printing
 Collaborates with government and non-government representatives for the implementation of projects.
 Conducts schematic preliminary studies and site analysis/ data collection and for development of assigned projects.
 Analyzes building codes, by-laws, space requirements, site requirements and other technical documents and reports
 Assists in or conducts site visits for the collection of data for project administration
 Participates in design reviews with Architect/ Project Manager/ Technical Specialist.
 Participates in cost build up development with Quantity Surveyor/ Project Manager/ Technical Specialist
 Informs the architect of non-conforming site work.
 Consistently estimates accurate completion time of own assignments and effectively coordinates with project team and across disciplines
 Revises drawings and layouts to accommodate changes and enhancements.
 Accommodates safety procedures and issues in installation and construction drawings

KEY COMPETENCIES

• Excellent in the use of computers and applications for data analysis
• Good ability to communicate effectively in oral and written format
• Working knowledge of other disciplines (structural, mechanical and electrical engineering) is a plus
• Excellent knowledge in Infrastructural/ Building Business Science
• Excellent experience in Autodesk Products to include AutoCAD, AutoCAD Architecture Revit; Sketch up Skills & Google Earth
• Good knowledge of building codes
• Good track record of successful Draughting and project construction document preparation

DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
 Degree in Architecture/ Construction Management/ or equivalent
 Five (5) years’ experience in Manual Draughting &
 Five (5) years’ experience in computer aided design (CAD)
