TPDCo Craft with a Difference – A Black Friday Weekend Extravaganza Comes to Montego Bay

Kingston, Jamaica – November 20, 2024; Having been a resounding success in Kingston for several years, the Tourism Product Development Company (TPDCo) is excited to announce the upcoming Craft with a Difference – A Black Friday Weekend Extravaganza 2024, which will be held on Sunday, December 1st, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Harmony Beach Park in Montego Bay.

This one of kind event is making its debut on the island’s north coast, bringing an unforgettable celebration of Jamaican craftsmanship, culture, and community to one of the most iconic tourism destinations in the Caribbean. Montego Bay, known for its rich cultural heritage and bustling tourism industry, is the perfect venue to host this year’s event. By bringing Craft with a Difference to the second city, also known as “The Complete Resort”, TPDCo aims to not only highlight the incredible creativity of local artisans but also to inspire both locals and tourists to engage with and support Jamaica’s dynamic craft and art events.

“Montego Bay offers the perfect setting for this year’s Craft with a Difference event,” said Wade Mars, Executive Director of TPDCo. “We’re thrilled to be able to bring this exciting celebration of Jamaican craft and culture to the people of Montego Bay, as well as our visitors. It’s a chance for everyone to experience the talent, creativity, and hospitality that make Jamaica such a special place.”

In recognition of the invaluable contribution that local artisans make to Jamaica’s cultural and economic landscape, TPDCo will honour three outstanding individuals this year: Scheed Cole Sculptor, of Sculptural Elements and Construction and 360 Recycle Manufacturing, Tamika, and Ian Williams of Ahh…Ras Natango Gallery and Garden. These honourees have been selected for their exceptional dedication, innovation, and skill in their respective crafts. Their work not only embodies the spirit of Jamaican artistry but also showcases the power of creativity in building sustainable livelihoods and preserving our rich cultural heritage.

Last year, TPDCo began this tradition of honouring local artisans, and it is with great pride that we continue this initiative in 2024. By shining a spotlight on these talented individuals, we hope to inspire the next generation of Jamaican artists and craftsmen and foster a greater appreciation for locally made products.

The Craft with a Difference Extravaganza promises an exciting day for all attendees, featuring a Kiddies Craft Village, offering children a chance to engage in creative activities, and a Bikkle Village for food and refreshments as well as musical performances from JCDC Festival Song Winner 2024 Kimiela “Candy” Issacs, Digicel Rising Star Winner 2024 Akeen Fennell, Gospel music icon Kevin Downswell, entertainer Shuga and comedian Marlon “Dubbs” Brown. The energetic Pretty Boy Floyd will serve as emcee, ensuring the atmosphere stays lively and entertaining for all ages.
